  • Chris MacFarlane

    Chris MacFarlane

    Founder & Head Coach

    As the Founder and Head Coach of Open Sports, Coach Chris brings a huge amount of experience, leadership and passion to the programme. Having spent 17 years at the school, including 10 years as Director of Sport, he has dedicated his career to creating sporting environments in which every child feels included, challenged and supported to improve. His philosophy is simple: sport should be enjoyable, ambitious and accessible to all, with every pupil given the opportunity to participate fully, build confidence and make genuine progress.

    With over 25 years of coaching experience, Chris combines a strong background in teaching, leadership and performance sport. He is a qualified teacher with a PGCE and QTS, holds a BSc (Hons) in Sport Science, and has earned a UEFA B Licence alongside a range of other coaching qualifications. Chris is hugely excited to be launching Open Sports and is committed to building a programme that combines high-quality coaching, genuine care for each pupil and a lasting love of sport.

  • Coach Loki

    Lead Street Football Coach

    Coach Loki brings a modern, exciting approach to football coaching, combining high-level technical knowledge with a genuine passion for helping young players improve. With a background in street football and a sharp eye for the detail of the game, Loki is particularly skilled at breaking down techniques, movements and match moments in a way that young players can understand and apply with confidence.

    Alongside his work on the pitch, Loki is also a successful football content creator with more than 40,000 followers on social media (mindful.baller / ballersfindaway), where his coaching videos and player analysis have reached over a million views. His ability to study professional players, simplify key skills and communicate them clearly is a huge asset to the players he works with.

    Loki is currently the lead coach for Open Sports’ MS & SS Street Football League, as well as Assistant Coach for the Under-14’s at the Arsenal Women’s Academy and First Team Manager at Old Actonians FC. He holds a UEFA B Licence, has worked with the Steven Gerrard Academy, and also has a Masters in Football Coaching and Analysis! Fun, energetic and highly knowledgeable, Loki brings real creativity, expertise and enthusiasm to every Open Sports session.


  • Coach Olivia

    Assistant Coach

    Coach Olivia is an exciting young coach with a huge future in the game. Full of personality, energy and enthusiasm, she brings a brilliant presence to every Open Sports session and is someone children quickly warm to. Loud in the best possible way, always smiling and full of positivity, Olivia creates a fun, welcoming environment while bringing real passion and commitment to her coaching.

    Despite her young age, Olivia has already made a big impression in the coaching world. After leaving college, she completed Arsenal’s year-long Community Coach Development Programme and was awarded the prestigious Kevin Campbell Award for Best Community Coach, receiving the honour on the pitch at the Emirates Stadium. It is a fantastic recognition of both her ability and the impact she has already made as a young coach.

    A talented footballer with a background in both football and multi-sports, Olivia is keen to get involved across the Open Sports programme and support a wide range of sessions. Friendly, driven and clearly a coach on the rise, she brings energy, warmth and exciting potential to the team.

  • Coach Egal

    Street Football & Football Coach

    Coach Egal is one of those coaches who children warm to straight away. Calm, friendly and always smiling, he has a brilliant way of making young players feel comfortable, settled and excited to get involved. His relaxed, positive manner helps children build confidence quickly, while his sense of fun and natural rapport make him a hugely popular member of the Open Sports team.

    With more than 15 years of football coaching experience, Egal brings a wealth of knowledge to every session, but what really sets him apart is the way he connects with younger players. At Open Sports, he works across Junior School football and Year 3 Street Football, creating sessions that are enjoyable, engaging and full of energy, while still helping children develop strong core skills and a love of the game.

    Egal is currently Head Coach of an Under-8 side at Primrose Hill Soccer Academy and holds a UEFA C Licence in football. His experience coaching younger age groups means he understands exactly how to challenge, support and encourage children at this important stage of their sporting development.

  • Coach Aaron

    Basketball Coach

    Coach Aaron brings real energy, ambition and specialist basketball knowledge to the Open Sports team. As our Year 7 and Year 8 Basketball Coach, he combines a strong coaching background with a genuine passion for helping young players develop their confidence, skills and understanding of the game. Calm, approachable and particularly strong at improving players, Aaron creates sessions that are engaging, challenging and enjoyable, while helping boys make clear progress and grow in confidence on court.

    Aaron is a Level 2 qualified basketball coach and currently coaches within the Sevenoaks Suns National League programme, where he works with the Under-14 National League team as well as across a range of youth development sessions from primary to secondary age groups. With his extensive experience and clear passion for player development, Aaron is a fantastic addition to the Open Sports coaching team.


  • Coach Dan

    Hockey Coach

    Coach Dan is a familiar face to many families and pupils across the school, having worked in the Junior School for a number of years and built excellent relationships with boys, staff and parents alike. Calm, friendly and hugely well-liked, Dan has a brilliant way of creating a positive atmosphere while helping children feel confident, supported and motivated to improve. His approachable manner and strong connection with the boys make him a real asset to the Open Sports team.

    A qualified teacher as well as an experienced coach, Dan brings a thoughtful and well-structured approach to his sessions. He played hockey to a high level at university and now uses that experience to help boys in Years 4, 5 and 6 develop their technical skills, tactical understanding and overall knowledge of the game in a fun, engaging and supportive environment.

    We are delighted to have Dan as part of the Open Sports team. His experience within the school community, combined with his calm coaching style, teaching background and strong hockey knowledge, make him someone the boys will be very happy to see back in action with Open Sports.

  • Coach Armaan

    Coach Armaan

    Assistant Coach

    Coach Armaan brings a brilliant mix of energy, athleticism and multi-sport experience to Open Sports. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Armaan grew up playing a wide range of sports, including football, rugby and hockey, which has helped shape his adaptable, well-rounded approach to coaching. His broad sporting background allows him to connect with children across different activities and bring plenty of enthusiasm, competitiveness and encouragement to every session.

    Now studying in London, Armaan currently plays for the UCL Rugby 1st XV and has also trained with the Hong Kong Under-20 rugby team, giving him experience in high-level performance environments. Alongside his playing career, he has coached a number of teams across different sports during college and university, continuing to build his coaching knowledge and experience.

    At Open Sports, Armaan will be assisting across a wide range of groups throughout the week. With his positive energy, sense of humour and infectious personality, he is someone pupils will really enjoy learning from and being around.

  • Coach Louis

    Street Football Coach

    Coach Louis brings a fantastic mix of personality, playing experience and coaching ambition to the Open Sports team. A current semi-professional footballer, Louis offers players an up-to-date understanding of the modern game, with valuable insight into the standards, habits and mindset required to perform at a high level. His current playing background gives him real credibility with young footballers and allows him to share first-hand knowledge that can genuinely help them improve.

    Away from his playing career, Louis is the Lead Coach at Oaklands College Football Academy Pathway, where he is continuing to develop as a coach and work closely with young players in a high-performance football environment. At Open Sports, he will be working on the Senior School Street Football League, bringing energy, enthusiasm and a strong football presence to the programme.

    With a huge smile, a big personality and a clear passion for coaching, Louis is someone the boys will enjoy learning from. His combination of current playing experience, leadership and positive character makes him a really exciting addition to Open Sports.

I have spent 17 years working at The Hall School, including 10 years as Director of Sport, which has given me a deep understanding of the school’s culture, values and the needs of boys at every stage of their development.
